Nice update as always with the cliffhangers always throwing me off guard right when I'm invested. Anyways anybody knows what this one gallery image is? I somehow missed it.

Either I'm reading faster out of excitement over more CH content or the last two chapters have been getting shorter. Not complaining per say but I'm just hoping it isn't the case.

(4 edits)

From what i see its like 2k less words and like maybe 30 less renders so a bit shorter than the last one edit. I checked the posts for when 47 dropped and 46 dropped where the word counts and render counts are put edit 2 it's also significantly shorter than version 45 which was roughly 20k words but I mean maybe they are doing shorter more frequent updates or just need to rest more it could be either if those things

(2 edits)

I actually think it’s just returning to its normal pacing. Looking at 0.38, 0.39, 0.40, 0.41, and 0.42 they average at about 13 to 16 thousand words and 200 to 300 renders.

0.43 didn’t have too much going on but it did have some lore, worldbuilding, and some chatter with the girls.

0.44 and 0.45 however were both completely filled with lots of seemingly important worldbuilding and lore.

0.46’s beginning felt like it could’ve been cut off from 0.45, especially since that had multiple cliffhanger opportunities itself.

SPOILERS (0.46)

The ambush part specifically feels like it could’ve fit as the ending to 0.45 but was instead moved to 0.46 for some reason. I say this because the ambush includes MANY opportunities for cliffhangers which is Vertigo’s favorite method of ending updates. Meanwhile the second half was just the MC explaining things to the class, catching them up, and then moving out towards the hotel. Hence it’s lower word/render count since those conversations can be cliffhanger-ed at almost any point, going off of Nene’s mask reveal that is.

0.47 most likely includes something similar (haven’t played it yet) and is probably just a bunch of chattin/hangin out with the girls. With some lore/minor/medium reveal at the end.

can't dowload on MEGA bc the game is too heavy and surpasses transfer quota

(+1)

Check out my Patreon for other file hosts. And yes, they are also free :)

(+1)(-4)

I can do that but i would prefer if those links were also on itch.

(+1)

Hello, will there be a translation into Russian in the future?

(+1)

Hi there!
Currently, there is no Russian translation planned while the game is still in development. Once the game is fully completed, however, I may look into getting it fully translated into a few languages, Russian among them :)

(+11)(-3)

I'm going to plug the Patreon real quick, because Vertigo doesn't like to 'toot his own horn', so to speak: Lowest tier is dirt cheap, once per month, and you get sneak-peeks, frequent devlogs, and early access for less than lunch at Chipolte... once per month. This dev is worth it. Play this game-- it'll prove my point. If you absolutely can't, at least rate the game-- a little love goes a long way! The discord is a great group of folks, too, and that's free!

(+1)

Ay, thanks, Padyshar! That's really kind of you :)

(1 edit) (+2)

I specifically went to retrieve my lost account, which already shows how amazing this game is.

The top-notch character development and main storyline have reached a level that's even more compelling than the explicit sex scenes.

Heh, thanks a lot for the nice comment, mate. Glad to hear that you got your lost account back :P

(+3)

Hey man. Had to renew my pc, so lost all saves and had to replay the full game. Totally worth it. The only thing that made it worse than first time was the lack of cliffhanger endings. They really were an art.But on the bright side i had not to wait for next update till the current. But really, got a weird idea that they should be designed like chapters, but versions. Just to keep them, u know?

Anyway, the story is still the best of those i played. Waiting for more. Never enough.)

(+1)

Heh, people would probably start rioting if I kept the cliffhangers in there. It's actually rare that people like them, so I'm glad to hear that you do. Most people just can't stand waiting :D

Thank you for your kind comment. I really appreciate it :)

(+2)

everything about this game has been good. the highlights of it is definitely the character development. Despite the overwhelming cast of characters, Vertigo has done an excellent job writing each and every one of them. after catching up, i feel invested in most all of the characters esp the core ones. the world building and story is also very good and is used to constantly develop the characters. Will be playing this at every update and definitley replaying at some point

Heya, sorry for the late reaction! Been busy moving into a new apartment and forgot to check my comments on here :P

I really appreciate your feedback, thank you for that. :)

(1 edit) (+2)

Despite the fact that the character models of the game isn't like some of the games that leads the adult category on itch io. I think Crimson High is one of the visual novels that sets the bar for what makes a game different from just being a hornyfest and actual eye catching with characters you can get attached to. Although the earlier few chapters feels way less polished than the more recent chapters, it still sets the tone for some of what you can expect. One of the best things I believe is present in the game is how it sets it's pace. It doesn't just suddenly make you immediately rushing to the focus of interest but makes you go through it step-by-step making the anticipation hit you harder specially in the higher stress moments in the newer content. The characters also all has their own quirks that manages to go consistently true to themselves with changes having an obvious reason either explained by recent happenings, interaction with the mc and their own choices. With how many girls there is in the game there is at least one that'll catch someone's eye. The story honestly had me so invested I even turned on the unseen text skip, skipping through some sex scenes just to get to the heavier talks that's supposed to happen after it. (The easter eggs of typing in Vertigo when you are prompted to type in something or the name of some of the girls makes some funny reactions as well.) Either way, keep doing what you are doing Vertigo you are doing amazingly, I'm all for this long ride since you've been cooking for a long while now and serving nearly 5 star Michelin levels of lore.

(+1)

Hey there, sorry for the late reply! I moved into a new apartment recently, so time was a scarce resource, and I honestly forgot about checking the comments here. :)

Thank you for your really kind feedback, though! It was lovely to read and even made me chuckle - usually people skip the talk to get to the sex scenes faster, and not the other way around. I love it :D

(+2)

New update a day early Vertigo you bless us

Any moan sound efs yet?

(+1)

No moaning sfx in the game, no, sorry

A couple things to remember when it comes to any adult game/AVN: Sounds = file bloat... it gobbles up space. Voice acting (yes, even for just moans) is both expensive to hire, and hard to find. Plapping noises are different: you can make those easily with the right materials, and you can reuse them as needed. CH has a pretty large cast of characters, so you'd need a pretty diverse range of voices for moans, grunts, whimpers, gasps, and whatever else you can think of... now you have higher overhead (considering Vert is building this AVN on nothing but donations, that isn't a small thing) and a massive sound file (all fun and games until you're at the mercy of mega or mediafire)... As nice as it would be (for some of us-- others would mute any sounds so we could continue playing without traumatizing anyone walking past the door) a lot of folks don't know how much they're asking for when they ask for moans or voicing.

(+2)

That almost got me scared for a minute 😭

(+1)(-4)

so is there no more free version

(+4)

I believe (and hope) it'll only be temporary. If you wanna download 0.45 right now, you'd have to find the public release on patreon (not even a need for a membership/account as the 0.45 public release is completely unlocked.)

(+4)

Yes, there is. In fact, there will only be free versions on Itch, going forward

(1 edit) (+4)(-1)

After reading some messages, I've come to a conclusion:

You shouldn't have early access on Itchio. Period. The way the pricing works seems to actively go against what you wanted to do with it.

The ONLY workaround I can think of (Itchio might not like it though, and it's probably more work than it's worth) is for you to create a COMPLETELY NEW PAGE each time you want to release an update in early access on Itch.

So you'd have this page becoming the main one, where the updates come out for free once two weeks have passed. Then you'd create an identical copy of this one for the T2 early access version, price it at $20, and move the V0.46 files from the main page over to the T2 one. A week later, you lower the T2's price to $10 and make it the T1 early access page instead (this would be fine and NOT cause the same problems you're having now). HOWEVER, for V0.47 you'd have to delete the V0.46 page, move the V0.46 files to THIS one, make another identical copy, add the V0.47 files to it, then price that NEW COPY at $20 for a week, then repeat the process with each update.

Now in regards to abandoning Itchio completely... Please don't. Itch makes it fairly easy to find, download, and access these kinds of games. As well as interact with the communities surrounding said games. Abandoning it would most likely result in a loss of visibility more than anything. For me, I'd be more annoyed that I'd have to click an extra 3 times whenever an update comes out. (I'm lazy, shut up)

(+5)

Thanks for your messages, mate. I appreciate you trying to do damage control on here.

It does look like early access on Itch isn't too feasible, yes. I may substitute this with Ko-Fi or something like that, but for now, I'll keep it Patreon-only.

Who knows. Maybe by next update, I'll have changed my mind and will actually do the new update pages every time. I need to do some research into that before I decide anything, though, since it heavily depends on how it works under the hood, and whether I need to do all the tax business again for each page. I doubt it, because it'd still be under the main account, but with Itch, logic doesn't seem to always apply. Their individually priced files feature is kind of misleading, and they've dropped the ball with the whole Collective Shout nonsense as well, so I wouldn't put it past them to make new project pages incredibly hard to put up, too.

Anyway. I won't abandon Itch completely. Worst case, I'll just release the public/free version on here every time, and keep the project open at all times, with zero paywalls and an added Ko-Fi link or whatever. Because even putting it on "0$ or donate" hides the game in the search feature, which severely limits exposure to new people.

(+1)(-2)

A little heads up that you were planning to add a price tag,(patreon announcement doesnt count) since its Itch I used to follow with) did enjoy the game but this is my stop and I do wish you well.

(+2)

After reading some messages, which I shall not disclose here, the price is caused by Itchio's jankyness when it comes to pricing. I believe it'll be fixed in at most 2 weeks when the update is meant to come out for free.

(+3)

There is no price tag. This was just a countermeasure on my end to prevent some stuff from happening, but it's gone now, and the new update will be freely available in 11 days, as usual

(1 edit) (+2)

You did an oopsie boss, you accidentally priced the ENTIRE game at $20 instead of only the 0.46 update.

(I've been reading the messages in the discord and it's probably better off NOT having early access on Itch)

(+2)

Not quite an oopsie and more of a stop-gap measure, but yes, no more early access on Itch. Thanks, mate

(1 edit) (+1)

Yeah, I kinda figured that was the case after I read the messages. Maybe you can figure some other way to get early access stuff on here, or Itch will eventually update it and actually make it work. But for now that and Ko-Fi are kinda your only options without making more extra work for yourself.

(+2)

Yeah, let's hope they eventually do. For now, I'm looking into setting something else up. If all goes well, I should have it up and running within the next few days

(+1)

In other words for download the game, now we need to pay $20 including for the free to play people?

(+2)

No. Itch just sucks ass and the paywall was a stop-gap measure until I had figured out what to do. The game is and will always be free to play (the early access period after new updates excluded)

(+2)

Did you mean to make ALL the downloads $20 or did you mean to just do the latest version (0.46.0)?

(+3)

I did mean to do that, but it was temporary and it's gone now

(+3)

this VN is one of the best I have downloaded from this site, its so fucking peak

(+3)

wow bro. what a great game. I'm not good at showing like excitement or appreciation but just know when i mean this is the greatest VN I've ever played I'm so serious.

(+6)

Hey man, thanks a ton! Super happy that you enjoy my game :)
Stay tuned for more updates, the next one coming sometime this month!

(+5)

i had to make an account just to comment on this game. This is the BEST game I have played from this site and I have played quite a few. The story of the game keeps you interested to want to keep playing. It’s a gripping story that keeps drawing you in with new plots and questions you want to be answered as soon as you think you will get an answer to a big question it just edges you (xD). And it wants you to keep playing. The art of the game is beautiful as well. But I must say when o started my play through o was a little hesitant but I told myself to keep going for a bit and I am so glad I did. Keep up the amazing job Vertigo I can’t wait to see how this is going to end.

(+4)

Oh damn, thanks a lot, mate! That's an amazing review. :)

I'll be the first one to admit that CH's early parts are a bit rough, but so far I prioritize new content over fixing early parts. Not sure that that's the best decision for the game's reach, since a bunch of potential players might get deterred by said early parts, but reworks tend to take a lot of time - time that can't be spent on new content, thus risking the current player base's satisfaction for the potential gain of new players. Maybe I'll cave eventually and offset one update to rework the early game, but for now, I don't have any plans in that direction.

Either way, thanks for your comment and for playing CH!

(2 edits) (+1)

took a few days but i got it to download externally

also no way to export a save? not that i mind replaying just wondering cause i couldnt find one

Edit: auto imported

(+1)

There are ways to export saves both on Android as well as PC/Linux/Mac. The methods differ, but it's possible. However, generally it also isn't required since the saves get carried over to new versions as long as they are on the same device - something you seemingly already discovered. :)

yeah i posted before i had the game downloaded was checking the old version for an export

(1 edit) (+4)

I cannot find that last hamster for the life of me. I've got 108/109 and I just can't find the guy. I'm assuming he appears after Rio appears but he evades my sight even with hints enabled.

Edit: Found it.

Glad you were able to find it :P

(3 edits) (+2)

its says that the full game version is hosted by an unsupported third party site, is there a way to get it from here

edit ill just download externally and import my save no biggie thanks for taking time to read this if you do

That's just itch's way of rejecting liability for whatever I offer, I assume. Glad you solved it, though

(+1)

i wish google drive is rude and says the file has reached its download limit or something like that

(+1)

Damn, every update always feel short (probably the case of time flying by when i have fun lol). Great job as always, Vertigo! A bit of a different kind of cliffhanger at the end, compared to usual, but a good one nonetheless. A good few new plot parts appeared and i can't wait to see more! Have a great morning/afternoon/evening/whatever-time-you-are-reading-it!

Thanks, mate. Happy to hear that you enjoyed the update :P

(+1)

in the most recent update does it matter who you take with you (mizuho or the other one)?

(+2)

Not at this time as far as I can tell, but Vertigo likes choices that will influence things later. Stealing (errrr borrowing) the panties in the very beginning has effects later, I would imagine this is the same kind of thing. BUT I'm not the dev, so he might correct me on if it really matters.

Supongo que todavía no hay parche para español ¿o si?

There is no official Spanish patch, correct

(+1)

Wow, this is game is really popular.Update just half a day old and already too many downloads. Google Drive is telling me to wait 24 hours. (no criticism towards Vertigo, it's just a thing on Google Drive).

(+1)

Yeah, sorry about that. Next time I'll use Pixeldrain to prevent that from happening :)

(+3)

Just finished 0.44 right on time for 0.45 public release? hell yeah! great game btw. out of curiosity, do you have a rough idea of how much bigger the final product will be?

(+3)

Heh, yeah. The update is now publicly available. :)

Regarding your question: It's really hard to say and ultimately depends on whether I decide to make a sequel or end CH. If it's the former, the game could be done in a year or so. Otherwise, it's probably going to be another couple years at the least.
Or, in other terms, there will be at least one more chapter, and at most.. well, the sky's the limit, I guess. Technically, I have enough ideas and story in my back pocket to fill another 6-7 chapters, at the very least.

(+1)

That makes sense, i know its almost impossible to say how big projects like these will end up. Glad to hear you've got a lot more gas in the tank though, it's quite an interesting story :)

(+1)

Me encanto tu juego,un exelente trabajo, tanto historia como personajes es perfecto

Thanks, amigo, glad you enjoyed it!

(+3)

What right do you have to get sick? Do you seriously think that being human somehow justifies your physiological ability to fall ill? And you even want to rest while you’re sick? UNFAIR!

Oh, wait… You also run paid access for your latest updates?!
How dare you want to eat?
How inhumane of you.

Bruh, how can such ideas come to someone's head?

You mentioned that localization work will start after the game is fully finished. Would you consider adding a Ukrainian localization?
If it comes to that, I’d even be willing to help with it myself. I really like the project. The only issue is that my English isn’t perfect, and I don’t have experience with localization specifically, especially the technical side of working with the files.
Still, I’d be happy to contribute if that would be useful.

(+1)

I know right? I'm such a terrible person, what with my basic needs and all :D

Thanks for the offer; I appreciate it!
Honestly, so far I haven't really put much thought into what languages (besides my own - German) I'd want to make localizations for. Most likely the big ones, as well as some other, comparatively smaller ones. I could see Ukrainian being among those, but that's something I'll decide when the time comes.

Once we get there, I'll likely make a post (or several) about looking for people to help translate the game. At that point, I'll probably also provide the necessary tools. Though all of this is very theoretical and things may look vastly different at that point. We'll have to wait and see what happens when CH is done :)

(+1)

Pero pongan el juego en español plissss

(+1)

Spanish jugs? I don't think we have any of those yet, but we got some pretty neat Irish and Scottish ones.

Jokes aside, I won't be adding any localizations before the game is done, due to a lack of time, among other things.

However, I know for a fact that there's at least one fan-made Spanish localization of the game out there. Can't give you a link, but it exists. May have to sail the high seas to get it, though. You'll figure it out, I'm sure!

(+1)

Keep up the good work Vertigo. I have been lurking and enjoying crimson high since before Suzu Fell down and bumped her head.

Thanks, mate, will do!

(+1)

One of the devs I follow updates every month, one updates about 3 times a year, one updates...I guess around every two months unless something happens (illness for example), one is hoping to update soon(tm) but the last official update was 6 months ago...I don't mind waiting, especially if I know the update will be great!

"Perrine gives Vertigo some steak and a special salad made from local veggies" Gotta keep your strength up!

Thanks, mate. Appreciate it!

(+6)(-1)

Low key would be really funny if you delayed the next release an extra month just to mess with damalon.

Dude, what the hell is your problem?

First of all, I don't owe you an explanation, nor am I under any obligation to check this site for comments religiously. The fact that I did do so for the longest time was a choice on my behalf, because I think that's the correct way to do this.

If you'd stopped for a second and used your brain, you'd have maybe come to the conclusion that there might be a good reason why I've suddenly stopped, too. A reason that doesn't have to do with you, because, surprise, the world doesn't revolve around you.

You want to know why the latest content release is taking longer than usual? That's because the frickin' update is longer than usual. Something that I've communicated very clearly, multiple times, both on Patreon and on here. If you're incapable of reading, you may want to reconsider your choice of entertainment. Just saying.

The next update will come out when it's done. If you can't deal with that, feel free to fuck off.

The nerve of you, I swear. I've been nothing but consistent for YEARS at this point. Regular, high-quality updates; immediate bug-fixes if necessary; open communication. And THE SECOND I fail to keep that up (for personal reasons, because I've been sick for a while and had to take a few weeks off, which, surprise, happens at times, because I'm human, too) you go fucking mental, just because I don't reply to you? Because YOU refuse to use Patreon and Discord? The two platforms I've mentioned I use a lot more than itch.io?

You're ridiculous. People like you are the reason why so many developers burn out. The demands you're making are just ludicrous.

(+9)

Seconded. Take all the time you need, big guy. Can't rush quality.

(+8)

Thanks, mate. It'll be worth the wait, and it won't be much longer.

(+1)

WTF did this dude say?... I never saw Vertigo like this before. I wanted to see what he said, but it's a deleted post and deleted account already

(+1)

The TL;DR of it is that he got upset because I didn't reply to him on here for a couple weeks after he'd asked about the update's progress (which is basically done, by the way; I'm about to post the release schedule).

He got all demanding and basically kept whining about my lack of communication, the increased dev time for the current update (apparently having missed that the update is going to be longer than usual), and ultimately being an entitled little shit. All of that across like 9 or 10 messages, the last of which (and the one my message was in reply to) being this:

It wasn't entirely that this one message was exceptionally horrible. Its that they had sent like 10 over the span of a few days. My favorite line was "putting the information here is the least he could do" in a rant about how selfish/inconsiderate vertigo was.

It was basically just toxic entitlement and acting as if developers are personal slaves to people like him. Basically the neck beard equivalent of a Karen.

(3 edits) (+2)

If it helps, I think the vast majority of people agree this guy is pathetic. The message he sent that really got me irked was when he put "least they could do".

As if producing free content, and not communicating, is somehow WORSE than having just never produced any content in the first place. (Not that this is even the case here, but that just makes their stance even more ridiculous)

If only we could all be paragons of virtue like this guy and spend our time trying to make the world a worse place by targeting those who actually produce something for others, and doing our damnedest to make them want to stop.

You keep being you and sharing content with the world! The rest of us appreciate it! And if you ever feel like slowing down or just stopping all together - you have already done more than most people will ever do and quitting wouldn't change that at all. Although it would be a real shame.

(+1)

Thanks, mate, that means a lot.
Some people are just too stuck up their own asses to see what's happening around them, or that not everyone exists solely for their entertainment.

No worries, though - CH will be finished, no matter what. Unless I go tits up, of course, but I don't plan on doing that anytime soon. There may be phases where I need to slow down to recharge, because being creative on demand can be draining, but those should be far and few between - and honestly, they are necessary, so there's no way around them anyway. Just like everyone else's paid time off and sick leaves and whatnot.

Appreciate your comment. :)

(1 edit) (+1)

all that verti said, but also, yous a bitch lmao, enjoying free content and then being all pissy when it aint there at the time you want, pathetic bro,how bout you go make a quality avn on the level of CH and then you can demand shit, but nu uh,your dumbass cant even string two thoughts together, bloody loser bro.

Hehe <3

(+2)

At this point, I'm tempted to. May just send it out personally to anyone but him. But I guess he's tired of this shit anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter.

"The least you could do"

Them producing free content for you is already going above and beyond "the least they could do"

Like are you fucking kidding me?

I'd also appreciate them posting the info here, but wording it as "the least they could do" is actually crazy. You ask in another comment why the dev is communicating less? Probably because they got burnt out dealing with people like this.

update v0.45 (or whatever it'll be called since I believe this would technically be the second half of .44 that was dropped early. or maybe I am misremembering.) can't get here fast enough. I need more Crimson High in my life asap
