Just made an account here on itch to say that this VN is fantastic. Absolutely love the characters, great work Vertigo. Aki Anzou is my favourite, she's really unique with her man-eater facade and horrific past. Then there's Reina, Suzu and Jun, Yukari, Okami and so many others... Really terrific. Can't wait for the next instalments.
Easily one of the best 3 AVN's I've played!! Plot, story, writing, character development, all of it is SUPERB!! I've told Vertigo that this story would be both easy to make into and popular as an anime or show!!
The latest cliff hanger XD I can't wait for more. I will definitely be keeping myself updated with this VN as much as possible. Love the story, love the different personalities of the characters. My favorite story to follow so far. Honestly, I can't get enough of this story. I'm more excited for updates to this than any show I have ever seen before. Excellent story telling, Vertigo.
It's probably the fault of the itch.io service. I downloaded another game yesterday, and it also downloaded incompletely, except that I had a little link there titled "Downloads not starting?" I just clicked on it and selected some other method and the game downloaded in full. Here there is a problem with it, because when you click on "download" it goes directly to the download and not the next page, as with other projects.
I just spent two days reading this visual novel and I am in love with this story, absolutely love the humor and plot. Why did it have to end on that cliffhanger though!!!! ;-; Noooooo!!!! I need more!!!!
Don't worry, Vertigo has a great habit of leaving all the end of the update with a cliffhanger, hate love him so much, got the greatest characteristic of human kind!
Heh, I'm really happy to hear that. Thank you! But yeah, as HaoIce already said, there's usually a cliffhanger at the end of each update. :P New content generally drops on a roughly monthly basis. :)
As far as I can tell it's an issue on Itch's end since the same happens for downloads of other games as well. Either try downloading until it works as another comment on here has suggested, or head to my Patreon and download it from there for free.
i seem to have gotten an error. I downloaded the newest version (29.1) and after the download (when i extract it) it says the file is corrupted. Am i doing something wrong?
I wanted to really give this game a shot, however my biggest ossue is the way the font/text is coloured with white outline. Regretfully, as someone who is colourblind I found attempting to read the text difficult and painful enough to cause a headache as the scene's colours made it nigh impossible.
Definitely would love to retry if there was an update for the font (white font on a solid black text box?)
I forgot to add the explanation for this to the update but RenPy has accessibility settings for cases like this. When you start the game and press 'A' on your keyboard, they get pulled up and you can adjust the font and various other things to your needs. Since I can't verify their effectiveness myself (as I'm not colorblind), I can only hope that these settings do what they promise. If you want to give it another shot with these settings and they turn out to be insufficient, let me know and I'll look into a solution for next update - I was planning to add another font color selection anyway, but a starkly contrasted textbox might be worth considering, too.
Well, yeah. The version you're currently using doesn't have a way to access this menu but I've created a quick patched version for Android that has the accessibility settings in the quick menu at the bottom once you're in the game. Just download the "CrimsonHigh-v0.29.1.1.apk" from here and install that, then you should have access to the accessibility menu. You might have to restart the application once after enabling the "High Contrast Text" setting for it to take effect but then it should do what you're looking for (white text on black background).
Quick disclaimer: This is a short-term fix and I haven't had the time to fully test it, so it might not fully work. That I can only guarantee for the next actual update (v0.30). So, if you do try this version, please keep this in mind. Any errors that might pop up aren't indicative of CH's usual quality and a product of this band-aid solution. I still hope it works for you and wish you a good time with the game! :)
How is asking about Android nitpicking? My laptop is ancient so most games I look for are Android compatible. Either way I am loving this game so far. :)
i just want to quickly express that i like a lot about this game and think its really good and also that i like the new menu screen. New update was good with a bit of tension and i look forward to the next one.
Is it just me, or does anyone else think the timing of Machi's appearance is no coincidence? ... there's a lot more I'd like to say, but I should probably avoid giving potential spoilers in the event I'm right in my guesses. Very well written!
I love how MC is still using the picture of Suzu he got from Touka for her picture in his contacts. I dunno how it'd come up but just the thought of Suzu's reaction to seeing that her contact picture is one where she looks particularly grumpy is hilarious to me
Bwahaha, yeah. I've got plans to have the girls interact more with the stuff that's going on on MC's phone anyway, so I might as well add that to the list. :D
Yeah, something like that is in the works for next update. It's likely going to be an option somewhere in the phone but I'll give a quick update as to where it can be found in the respective update.
I cannot stress enough how immaculate your writing ability is!! The depth in which you bring characters to life is second to NONE!! You should seriously write for every major production house in the US!!
Heh, thanks, man! I'm not sure that my writing would translate all that well to movie scripts, though, but I'm open for 6-figure-plus offers from Hollywood and others. :P
I wish I were wealthy enough to bankroll you!! Trust me with the complexity and nuance that you write your characters is AMAZING!! I shudder to think what worlds you could conquer, what people you could help understand, if given the proper forum!!
(Solution for Windows) RenPy puts save files in two different locations, which you'd have to delete both of: - In the Crimson High folder (CrimsonHigh/game/saves) - In your Appdata folder (%AppData%/RenPy/CrimsonHigh-1624478627) There's tons of tutorials on how to get to the AppData folder online should you not know how to get there. The easiest way imo is to just type in "%AppData%" in the address bar of your file browser and hit Enter.
That explains why Deleting the game (to make room for something else) didn't work. Well, thanks and Upvoted. If anyone was wondering, the data was in "roaming" for me.
I got hooked at the story and it's actually quite fun. There are hillarous moments which is kinda rare if someone claims they have humor included on the story. Honestly, I thought this game is some kind of generic 3D sandbox games that's why I got shocked a bit when it was a VN and I'm glad I tried it.
I loved all the characters so far and they have some kind of unique trait that differentiates each other. I just hope Miri and Claws are part of the main cast. Never wanted to be dominated but with Claws I'm willing to be submissive lol (without pegging atleast).
Solid game. You left a cliffhanger and now I can't wait for more!
Hey, thanks for your comment! I'm glad that you tried CH despite initial doubts and happy to hear that you liked it! :) Miri and Claws aren't part of the main cast, though. They are both important characters with a good amount of screen time (and they got/will get their scenes) but yeah, not part of the main cast. Hope you're gonna enjoy the game anyway!
If there are some solo routes I would really like to choose either of them as well. But I know it's just wishful thinking. Good thing they still have some scenes but it's kinda interesting to have a relationship with them as well.
Once again the game is awesome. This game is like the needle in a haystack. Thanks for the gem boss
No routes in CH, I'm afraid. I'd rather have one actually good main route instead of 20+ half-assed character routes. However, there is at least the option to opt out of the non-integral characters' sexual encounters and have them be solely platonic.
You're welcome! Thank you for playing it, compadre. :)
I actually agree with you on this one. Much better to have one good main route than multiple trash routes. No I don't wanna opt out. I atleast wanna have relationship with the 2 characters I mentioned before if possible but you mentioned they won't be part of MC's romantic relationship.
Just to be clear are all main casts will be having a relationship with MC while the side cast will either be fuck buddies or on a platonic friendship?
I'm honestly glad to hear that, cause not everyone wants to see reason on this topic.
Well, the way I look at these things in harem games is: there's the main harem and there are miscellaneous relationships of all kinds. The main harem is the central group of characters that may or may not have a deeply emotional and romantic connection to the MC. They may or may not also live with him after some point in the story. Suzu is the obvious example for this. However, that doesn't mean that characters outside of the harem won't get any romance or romantic relationships with the MC. It's less likely but there's still the chance for a separate (from the harem) relationship with individual characters. Miri would be a good example for that. There's gonna be more than just a sexual relationship but (as of right now; things might change during the development) she's not gonna move in with MC and become part of the core harem.
I hope this sufficiently explains things without spoilering too much. :)
Please follow this through; This game is a real gem so far! All the characters are fun, deep, lovable, and beautifully done! (can't figure out why everyone hates on Jun, lol... it's not nice to pick on someone for being smol!)
I love that it's also frequently updated, and the obvious care taken to ensure a happy customer base, and a wonderfully fulfilling story. I WILL eventually buy into this, as it's proving more and more worth it, and have already given you a five star. I'm still considering the patreon thing... although to be fair I would break myself trying to support all the devs I've found on here worth supporting (which is why I hesitate; the decision would be simple if I had the funds). At the very least, I endorse (and will pay) what most consider to be a "Triple A" price for the finished game!
Well, dang! Thank you so much! That's awfully nice of you to say. :)
I appreciate you considering becoming a patron, but please, only if you really can. I don't want anyone to struggle because they are supporting me and CH. A 5 star rating is already plenty and goes a long way! Beyond that I can't ask for anything else, really. Word of mouth and ratings/reviews are important for CH's visibility and do a whole lot for the game, so thank you! :)
Well, it's not that bad... it's lowest tier, but I'm on board. I think it'll be worth it. Can't wait to see this journey through! I'll be rooting for you!
I MUST say something I find to be both truly important and truly profound. The way you handle Satoshi's sexuality is a master class in what's right my friend!! My appreciation for this can never be understated!!
He cares a tremendous amount for his son and his sexuality plays only a very minor part in your story!! That is satisfying, to see non- heterosexuality treated as nothing more than normal!!
This game is great. All the characters are wonderful and interesting. Though admittedly my favorite side character is Uraha just because of her conversations and sense of humor are great.
I LOVE YOUR GAME! The story is so intriguing, and the characters and writing are so amazing! I love how you write the interactions between characters, and how unique each character is! You have an amazing ability to create stories and emotions! I hope you continue to make BEAUTIFUL art!
You know, you shouldn't jump around when this nice woman is holding a sharp pair of scissors. If you move she could slip and slice your jugular vein, on accident. There is no way to stitch the jugular. All of your blood will be on the floor in four minutes. I have seen this. I have done this. You don't want this.
I wanted to make this comment after finishing chapter 1, but I held on until finishing chapter 2 (is chapter 3 complete? Figured I'd take the chance to ask.)
Suzu is the gem of this game; she alone makes it worth playing, and elevates it to a straight 5/5. I don't think I've seen any other AVN do that "I brought a JK home" experience, and so well too. How she's written, the clothing and hairstyle choices, the subtlety it's all delivered with, the focus she gets, you should feel proud of yourself for her charatcer. I will sing the praises of CH forever due to her. If I get to pick a heroine for a solo ending I'm not hesitating, Suzu and MC will go to that shack in the woods!
Second most valuable heroine is likely Yukari. Now, I wouldn't say I like her, but I find it valuable that, having the chance to use her any one way, you choose to use her to show the consequences of narrowmindness and maybe attempt to be a positive force in putting a stop to them. Props there.
I was honestly relieved when I saw Aki's backstory, when I saw where things were heading I was afraid you were going to pull your punches, and I'm so glad you did not. The Anzou clan "particularity" is super interesting (I wonder what this means for Sae, with her being into masochism...)
Honestly the first thing I disliked about the game was being forced to fool around with Mana, only getting a choice on wheter to go further, rather than on if to start at all. Not a huge fan, but when you had that line of "I guess she likes to discover hidden things due to her family", you showed you have a solid grasp on who she is as a character, well done.
Ookami's slowburn is super well done, I want to see more of Machi, and I enjoy every time Chiya is on screen (big tip!) Aya is cute too, and I tend to hate that type of super forward character, so feel proud, you presented her well!
Please, don't ever give me a choice on wheter to shoot Jun in the head, because I'd blow her brains out so fast. (If that choice does appear, the game becomes an instant 10/5)
The amount of secondary characters makes me wonder if you have a plan for each of them or if you've forgotten some already, but they defitinely make the world feel lived in, so if that's what you were going for, you achieved it!
In sum, feel proud! You've crafted a great experience!
Put me in a dress and call me Nancy, what a comment!
Chapter 3 is almost finished. Chapter 4 begins either with the release of v0.30 or v0.31, depending on where exactly the ending of Chapter 3 ends up.
Suzu is great, isn't she? I never intended for her to get as much attention as she did but she conquered my heart in a storm and I had no choice but to focus on her more. What does "JK" mean in this context, though? Not sure about that acronym.
"Forced" love interests (like Mana) are a sore spot for a lot of people. I'm aware of that. But honestly, with a story like CH's, there is no way to make any of the main love interests optional. They're all there for a reason and I haven't thrown any of them in just willy nilly. The more player agenda there is within a game, the less cohesive (or the more shallow) the story is, in my opinion. Either that, or the development takes ages because you have to handcraft each individual route to still make sense and have the same impact. Since I don't want to still be working on CH in 10 years, I decided to go for a single main route with slight variations through choices and some optional sexual/romantical encounters.
The above also goes for Jun. I know she's a very polarizing character, but I do have a plan for her, like I do for all the others. She's always been a gamble but I hope it pays off once you guys find out where things are headed with her. All I'm asking is to not completely write her off just yet.
Don't think I've forgotten any of the side characters, but I also don't have a plan for all of them. Many members of the side cast are just there to fill the world and to make it so that we don't just run into the same 5 characters over and over again, because that's kind of a pet peeve of mine. The important players should be known by now (with a handful of exceptions, maybe) and all the others are basically loveable/quirky extras.
Thanks a lot for your comment and your kind words! I do feel proud of CH. And I'm glad that you enjoy it, too. :)
JK is short for Joshi Kosei, "High-School Girl" in Japanese!
About forced love interests, I wasn't liking Yukari's library scene, but I decided to trust it was happening for a reason, and lo and behold, that was the case (just like it was for Aki's shorter bedroom scene). When it comes to Jun, I do not like her, however I have enough media literacy to understand things are building up to something with her (wheter I will like it is another thing, but I get she's important to the story you want to tell). When it comes to Mana though, I get how her family issues are neccessary for the plot to move forward, however up to the end of CH2 I never felt MC getting sexual with her (so early on) was. She feels like Miri and Nao, sub-heroines put on "having an early H-scene for impatient players" duty, only unlike them, her scenes are not avoidable (or, one of them is, but seeing the preceding one is forced).
When it comes to background characters, stuff like getting a chance to compliment one of them during the track and field choice I love, please have more of those haha. Main heroine who? Let me flirt with that unnamed tertiary character with 0 previous screentime haha.
Good to hear chapter 3 is almost done, I'll take a break and pick the game back up in a couple of months to play it all in one go!
Ah! You learn new things every day! Thanks for explaining.
It's always great when people have faith in someone's abilities instead of judging things on pure face value. Thanks for giving me (and Yukari's scene) the benefit of the doubt! You may very well not ever like Jun and that's absolutely fine. Expecting everyone to love each and every character I create would be akin to madness. But yeah, you're right, of course. Jun is indeed important to the story. Well, you're not completely wrong. Mana's first scene wasn't exactly necessary at that point and exists to a good extent simply to appease the need for porn in an AVN. Same as Miri and Nao, as you have already mentioned. It's a bit of a bummer but I do have to play the field to some degree. By now I'd do a lot of things differently but back then (3 months into making CH) I had neither the confidence nor the knowledge needed to do better than that. You live and learn, I guess.
We'll get more scenes like the track field one for sure. I did enjoy that a lot, too. :P
You do that! Enjoy your time and thanks for the comment!
I love all of the attention to detail and hidden stuff in this game that you just wouldn't see if your not paying attention. The hamsters are a fun addition if not a little difficult to find without the hint option but even stuff like (*spoiler ahead)
the date with miko on day 5 and you sit with her on the bench and you can see Jun in the cultist costume watching your date from the bridge in the distance adds quite of bit of intrigue and makes you want to go scene by scene instead of skipping around even if you replay it. Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward for more content from you.
I'm aware, yeah. The hamsters were never designed with an Android version in mind (because I didn't always have an Android version for CH) so early on they are hard to click. Later hamsters are a bit easier because I've started to take Android into consideration. Maybe I'll go back and adjust the other ones eventually but it's rather low on my list of priorities.
Thanks for mentioning it anyway and thanks for the comment!
hi vertigoAVN, you might want to check you have no copyrighted images/logos in the game, anyway..... i'm gonna go to an American diner now and get a burger and cola.....
Great game so far 10/10 plot and character development, keep up the good work! :D
Dude, you got an amazing game here. Top quality stuff available here. Amazing job you've been doing!
Your strength is the plot writing. You know how to tell a gripping story, picking the right words for that. Not only that, you also really know how to build a satisfactory character development. It is hard to find VNs with as deep and complex personalities as it was presentend on Crimson High. Before I install your game, I wasn't expecting it to be so immersive. What called my attention was the tone of mystery with perhaps some horror elements that this game seemed like to offer. These factors got me curious and made me install Crimson High (and yes, the fact that it is a NSFW game also counted. I was looking for that).
After installing your game, the first thing you tell me is that there are few H-scenes and they are far between, however, the closer I get to the girls, the more frequent the H-scenes would be. This is exactly what I wanted, a NSFW game which is story-rich, where the intimacy really counts. It is more like the real world, more natural, no artificial stuff. By the way, VN games exist to be story-rich, with a natural pace. Novel is the keyword. It is a pity that many devs forget that.
Your game is gripping. I was hooked to it. I finished the 0.27 version (if I am not wrong) two days ago, still, I cannot stop thinking about it. When I finished the chapter 3 (I believe that my meeting with Uraha was the end of Chapter 3), I felt some sadness, because there wasn't more content (you hadn't released 0.28 yet). It is not usual for me to feel like that after finishing Ren'Py games, but it happened to me when I finished yours.
The girls are beautiful. I don't know whether you used an asset or you created them (I don't know how Koikatsu Illusion works), but they are attractive. It is just that at the beginning I found the characters slightly weird for being too tall or there was something different about their faces or body proportions (I guess that Miko was the first one who transmitted this sensation)... But it wasn't a big deal and I quickly learnt how to like this design or style. Also, I am not sure, but have I seen other Ren'Py games show teeth all the time? I don't know, but it is still okay. As I said, the girls are attractive, and Suzu happened to be my favorite. She is a keeper. I want a marriage route with her XD.
Jun is weird... I know that she is over 18... But her appearance (and immaturity) does bother me :/
Nene also seems kinda young... But it is acceptable. She looks decent for the game. Now, about Jun... I would skip an H-scene with her. Just doesn't feel right.
About all the other girls, they are perfect in the way they are right now. They are gorgeous, hot and fun to be around. Kana is my second favorite, by the way.
Even though I had a lot of fun with your game, I'd like to point out some things that made me scratch my head:
Too many characters: Too many new girls introduced in too short time. Quantity is not quality. I'd like to have more opportunities to deepen my intimacy with the main girls first (which are already many). Let's calm down a little and allow the main girls finish telling their life stories first. While I could be kissing Nagisa due to our strengthened intimacy and progression in her storyline, I am wasting time with Kiri (who is a pain in the a** and I am not interested in learning about her) or I am starting everything from scratch with Quoth, for example.
Scheduling algorithm: There is a non-circular round-robin scheduling algorithm running, whose purpose is to make the MC spend time together with each girl until her time slice is complete. It is a smart way to manage your story with such high amount of characters who are important for the main story's progression. There's nothing wrong about that. However, what makes me scratch my head here is that I developed affinities. For example, I don't like Okami and I kinda don't care about her storyline. I am not interested in her. I would like to prioritize some girls, you know? Go deep into Nagisa's storyline in my own pace, for example. You could ask me who I am preferring at the time. Based on my response, you could anticipate the storyline from the girl I chose. I am not saying that I have to finish her whole storyline at once, but at least I would progress with her more, also increasing our intimacy. It would take shorter time for me to unlock the first scenes with the girl I seem to be preferring at the moment. However, I think there is not much you can do about it and it is also not a big deal. It just feels that it takes too long time for me to progress with the girls who I am interested in.
Jun: Come on, you know what I mean :). But yeah, her storyline is quite interesting and I am looking forward to meeting her Nana, instead of wasting time with Quoth and those three girls group (Aya, Kiri and Chiya). Don't get me wrong, though, I want progress with Quoth and Aya, but let me learn about Nana first, it looks more important.
The main objective seems missed: So... Didn't I join the police to figure out about my deceased mom's case? Isn't it my life purpose now? Shouldn't I be acting to figure out who the murderer is? Except for the very beginning of the game, my mom was mentioned just once, while talking to Uraha for the second time, if I am not wrong.
Is everybody playing dumb?: Okay, so I get heavily injured on the head, get completely healed in 1 day, vampire blood makes me out of mind, I have super strength while feeling mad, I resist Suzu's ability and make she turn into "new sister", I can have telepathic conversations with Kana and Kagome and there is no suspicion that I am a myth? Not even the MC starts to doubt whether he is human or not?
Some things are far-fetched: The idea of hiding too many mythical races from humanity for centuries or milleniums is too far-fetched. It is an awesome background for a nice story that you are telling, but it is not convincing. But I won't focus on this part. Suzu living at the school is also too far-fetched, considering her origins. Of course her family could have more than one house and not everything was burnt. Of course she could have gone to the bank agency earlier. Of course there are more members in the clan she belongs to.
Those points I mentioned are just little ones and didn't really harm my game experience (Except the Jun part). I enjoyed the game and had fun. The game is way longer than I expected and it is good. Your writing skills are just impeccable and are helping me to improve my english skills. I see that you released 0.28, but I won't play it now. I just can't. I don't have time. But, I will certainly play your game again in the future to see how it ends. When you finish this game, please, don't stop on it. Create more projects.
I follow other pretty nice projects here on Itch, but all of them are no complete yet and take time to release a small update. Meanwhile, I look for games with as good quality as these I follow, but I fail miserably. If you stop creating these projects, you would be missed for sure.
Damn, that's a comment and a half! First of all, let me thank you for your kind words. I appreciate them a lot!
I'm gonna be a bit more concise in my reply and only address points I think need clarification. Please don't take this as me disregarding everything else. I've read your whole comment and I appreciate it for what it is.
About the girls' designs: They are all made by me, so thank you! Of course they got refined over time because I've improved over the course of the last two years as well. Early on I made some rather obvious mistakes but that's how these things go.
Regarding Jun: I know. It's by design. I can't tell you what and why (because of spoilers) so I'd ask you to trust that I have a plan for her. I've been working up to this point to set a few things up for her and they'll soon bear fruit. Hopefully in the way I intend them to, too.
Too many characters: That's an opinion. I disagree. Important to note here is that not every female character you see in the game is a love interest. To me the world needs to be filled with different characters that the MC meets here and there because (again, to me) it feels unrealistic and weird if the MC only ever runs into the same 5 girls, despite spending time in crowded places. Quoth for example will very likely not be romanced at all, so we're not "starting over with her". She's part of the plot and used to add some cuteness to the game. Nothing more, nothing less.
Scheduling: What you're describing is a sandbox game. That's not CH. I know some people like having the liberty of choosing what scenes to choose at any given point in the game but: a) that's not for everyone b) I personally am not a fan of this style of game c) CH wouldn't work if I gave the player said liberty To elaborate on the last bullet point (c): The pacing, flow, and order of events in CH needs to be the way it is for the story to work. If you were to skip Okami's story, for example, the story would stop making sense. Same with completing Nagisa's story before all the others. Now, you could, of course, argue that I chose to make it that way and that I could've created the story differently - and you'd be right of course. But I didn't. And that's mostly because of bullet point B. For me, CH is a passion project, first and foremost. That's what makes it as good as it is, if you ask me. There's actual passion in the creation of it and it apparently shows. And, well.. that wouldn't be the case if I were to make a game that I don't personally enjoy. I know that you simply stated an opinion and that's totally fine, of course. I'm not trying to defend myself, either. Just explaining the reasoning behind sticking to my guns, basically.
Main objective: You're not completely wrong on that but the key part of your statement is the word "seems". It's hard to see at the current point but I'm following a plan and it should (hopefully) make sense once the game is complete. Again, I can't say much, so all I can do is ask people to trust that I'm not completely retarded.
Everyone playing dumb: Well, that's a matter of perspective. Of course this is all just simulated and no one knows how these things would go in reality, but to me it makes sense that people who are used to supernatural stuff (i.e. Myths) are less sensitive to its appearance. So, while it may seem odd from a meta perspective (yours) that no one draws the conclusion you think is right, it isn't that odd when you put yourself in the shoes of someone who's been around "abnormal" things their whole life. Also, the MC has very much questioned his own humanity before. Don't quote me on it but I think it was on the balcony with Jun. And it's not been before that because he's tried to avoid these kinds of thoughts because they scared him. Which he also explains in that scene.
Things being far-fetched: I mean.. it's a fictional world filled with supernatural beings. The whole premise of CH is far-fetched. And yes, a certain level of suspension of disbelief is necessary. But I don't think that's an issue, per se. I do expect people to be open to disregard minor plot holes or unconvincing things for the sake of the overall narrative. That much you have to do in pretty much every fantasy story. Does it make sense that the internet hasn't uncovered the existence of Myths in an age where pretty much everything is being controlled? Not really. Would the whole story be impossible the way it is if I hadn't ignored that while building the world? Yeah. So, while you're not wrong, I'd say it simply doesn't matter. Not everything has to always make 100% sense. As long as it's fun, it's fine for things to be a bit weird, imo.
As for Suzu: She didn't know about the bank, her family didn't have other houses (that she knew of), and all the other members of her clan were killed in the attack. It's all accounted for.
Again, thank you so much for your comment and your kind words. While it may seem like I completely brushed off all your criticism, I do keep it in mind going forward, like I do with all comments I get. If somethings comes from it or not will have to remain to be seen, but I've read it and acknowledged it.
For those who don't want to waste time (Chapter 2 - Day 8 during afternoon, after meeting Kuro and Morrigan while they were drinking and while paying pizza).

I swear, VertigoAVN, if I have to flip out in German after the next update.... Well, I'll be cross with you!!
Nah, you don't have to do that. Just take it as it comes. It's better for the heart. :P
No, no it can't!! Especially now that it turned 44!!
Is the public release tomorrow?? I'm on freaking tenderhooks since you LITERALLY left us hanging!!
Currently uploading, should be up in a bit.
Ahhh, thanks a lot, mate! Happy to hear!
Heh, thank you, Halex. That's mighty kind of you to say.
Glad to hear that you like CH so much! :)
Why does it only download about 150megs, then says completed???
It's probably the fault of the itch.io service. I downloaded another game yesterday, and it also downloaded incompletely, except that I had a little link there titled "Downloads not starting?" I just clicked on it and selected some other method and the game downloaded in full. Here there is a problem with it, because when you click on "download" it goes directly to the download and not the next page, as with other projects.
There seems to indeed be a problem on Itch.io's end. All downloads are to be found in the latest post on my Patreon for free, though.
I just spent two days reading this visual novel and I am in love with this story, absolutely love the humor and plot. Why did it have to end on that cliffhanger though!!!! ;-; Noooooo!!!! I need more!!!!
Don't worry, Vertigo has a great habit of leaving all the end of the update with a cliffhanger,
hatelove him so much, got the greatest characteristic of human kind!:)
Thanks a lot, friend. :)
Heh, I'm really happy to hear that. Thank you!
But yeah, as HaoIce already said, there's usually a cliffhanger at the end of each update. :P
New content generally drops on a roughly monthly basis. :)
Download says 2GB but i only downloaded 1.1GB.. Download is corrupt?
Possibly? For me it stops at 800 MB. I'm currently re-uploading the PC and Mac versions.
The issue might be on Itch's end, though. I'll look into it.
As far as I can tell it's an issue on Itch's end since the same happens for downloads of other games as well.
Either try downloading until it works as another comment on here has suggested, or head to my Patreon and download it from there for free.
Thank you! You are right about other games not fetching all files as well, wierd.
I CAN'T WITH THE ACRONYMS XD Definitely my favorite part of the game so far.
i seem to have gotten an error. I downloaded the newest version (29.1) and after the download (when i extract it) it says the file is corrupted. Am i doing something wrong?
Delete it and retry. I had the same thing happen but it seemed to work just fine after the second download
he can i use an android save on a pc??
Thanks a ton for the review! Much appreciated!
You LITERALLY left the story hanging!! Grrr
Haha, yeah. The most cliffhanger-y cliffhanger I could make without a trip to the mountains. :P
You always leave us wanting more!!
I read this comment and thought it was a bit dramatic, but now that I'm also caught up, FUCK WHAT THE HELL VERTIGO
Also Vert you're the best can't wait for more T_T
Heh, thanks a lot :P
Yeah my comments to him are almost always like this after a new update!! I like to speak my mind and entertain!!
Fick dich, Arschloch!! How could you leave it THERE??!!?? AHHHHHHH
Geht's auch etwas weniger ordinär?
Nein, es ist verdammt perfekt, verdammt noch mal!!
Oh! Okay! Do you have any steps for Android users?
Oh my gosh, thank you so much! I really appreciate your quick responses and taking the time to expand upon things!
Hey! I reinstalled it and again truly than you so much! I know it is a temporary band-aid but it makes such a world of difference. :D
Hey, no worries! Glad it helped and I hope it makes the game enjoyable for you, too. :)
talk about nitpicking!!
Thanks a lot!
Is it just me, or does anyone else think the timing of Machi's appearance is no coincidence? ... there's a lot more I'd like to say, but I should probably avoid giving potential spoilers in the event I'm right in my guesses. Very well written!
Thank you!
Oh! Right, that's what I was going to mention!
Best cliffhangers ever. New emotions everytime)
As much i hate them anywhere else, as much i like them here)
Haha, thanks! That's awesome to hear!
any chance you can darken the text or the text box? My eyes aren't quite good enough to make it out all the time
Yeah, something like that is in the works for next update.
It's likely going to be an option somewhere in the phone but I'll give a quick update as to where it can be found in the respective update.
I cannot stress enough how immaculate your writing ability is!! The depth in which you bring characters to life is second to NONE!! You should seriously write for every major production house in the US!!
If you did our box office would thrive!! Vielleicht könnten wir aus unserer starren, dogmatischen Hülle herauskommen, mein Freund!!
I think this game is very interesting. My favorite character is suzu. She's really cute. Look forward to more stories.
Thanks a lot!
How do I delete my saves? I detest my save system, and I put <> in a save so one is glitched.
(Solution for Windows)
RenPy puts save files in two different locations, which you'd have to delete both of:
- In the Crimson High folder (CrimsonHigh/game/saves)
- In your Appdata folder (%AppData%/RenPy/CrimsonHigh-1624478627)
There's tons of tutorials on how to get to the AppData folder online should you not know how to get there. The easiest way imo is to just type in "%AppData%" in the address bar of your file browser and hit Enter.
That explains why Deleting the game (to make room for something else) didn't work. Well, thanks and Upvoted. If anyone was wondering, the data was in "roaming" for me.
You're welcome!
Miri and Claws aren't part of the main cast, though.
KUDOS!!
Ayyy, thank you so much! I appreciate it a ton!
Loving the game so far, the writing is excellent. beep boop so edgy, if you know, you know.
Hehe :P thanks for your kind words!
Amazing as always you literary genius you!! I'm not even going to complain about the cliffhanger this time!! I will say one thing however!!!
"We're not worthy!!
Haha, thanks friend! I appreciate it. :)
I MUST say something I find to be both truly important and truly profound. The way you handle Satoshi's sexuality is a master class in what's right my friend!! My appreciation for this can never be understated!!
🙏
Thank you! I'm glad to hear that it's appreciated. Satoshi is really nice to write for, too. I like him a lot. :)
He cares a tremendous amount for his son and his sexuality plays only a very minor part in your story!! That is satisfying, to see non- heterosexuality treated as nothing more than normal!!
His sexuality is basically just part of his character, yeah. Just like how his son's weakness is cute girls lol
Thanks for the praise! :)
This game is great. All the characters are wonderful and interesting. Though admittedly my favorite side character is Uraha just because of her conversations and sense of humor are great.
Thanks a lot! Glad to hear you enjoy it. :)
就我一个中国银?
你不是一个银
I LOVE YOUR GAME! The story is so intriguing, and the characters and writing are so amazing! I love how you write the interactions between characters, and how unique each character is! You have an amazing ability to create stories and emotions! I hope you continue to make BEAUTIFUL art!
Haha, thank you, friend. I'll continue for as long as I can. :)
Thanks for your kind words and love the username! :P
Fizzy bubblech!
Exactly. :P
Thanks a lot for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoy the game and its details. :)
New question! One that shouldn't be a spoiler... Probably.
With the colorful cast of characters in this are there any that stand out to you as the most underrated?
Miri, definitely. She's quickly dismissed as a ditzy bimbo but that's pretty much just her outermost layer.
Hey vertigo, just a small thing, but on android the hamsters are sometimes only a few pixles big and very hard to click on. Still an amazing game 👍
Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed it! Hope you had a good time with your nameless beverage in your nameless diner. :P
*Spoilers ahead*
About the girls' designs:
They are all made by me, so thank you! Of course they got refined over time because I've improved over the course of the last two years as well. Early on I made some rather obvious mistakes but that's how these things go.
Regarding Jun:
I know. It's by design. I can't tell you what and why (because of spoilers) so I'd ask you to trust that I have a plan for her. I've been working up to this point to set a few things up for her and they'll soon bear fruit. Hopefully in the way I intend them to, too.
Too many characters:
That's an opinion.
Scheduling:
What you're describing is a sandbox game. That's not CH. I know some people like having the liberty of choosing what scenes to choose at any given point in the game but:
a) that's not for everyone
b) I personally am not a fan of this style of game
c) CH wouldn't work if I gave the player said liberty
To elaborate on the last bullet point (c):
The pacing, flow, and order of events in CH needs to be the way it is for the story to work.
Main objective:
You're not completely wrong on that but the key part of your statement is the word "seems". It's hard to see at the current point but I'm following a plan and it should (hopefully) make sense once the game is complete. Again, I can't say much, so all I can do is ask people to trust that I'm not completely retarded.
Everyone playing dumb:
Well, that's a matter of perspective.
Things being far-fetched:
I mean.. it's a fictional world filled with supernatural beings.
As for Suzu:
She didn't know about the bank, her family didn't have other houses (that she knew of), and all the other members of her clan were killed in the attack.
Cheers!
That's okay, man. I appreciate your kind reply!
